How Technology can Isolate Us
Safe Computing: In the digital age, safe computing is incredibly important. People are often able to hack accounts because of weak passwords or protection. This can be prevented with better tactics. One example of safe computing is multi-factor authentication. This is when you require multiple different ways to access your account. This makes it harder for your account to be lost. In addition, generating secure passwords can help with this, as it auto generates a long, random string of letters and numbers. Creating a unique password for each account also helps as losing one password will not give hackers access to all of your accounts.
Computing Innovation
In the past 40 years, there have been countless innovations in computing. These include the Internet, www, pc/laptops, mobile phones, human genome mapping, LED, LCD, microprocessors, GPS, and digital photo/video. Arguably the most impactful of these was the Internet. Never before had people been so connected, and this increased ease of contact helped speed along progress.
Technology is crucial for innovation. Innovation can rapidly “transform and catapult a region forward”. However, there are challenges. These include privacy/security and ethical use of AI. One problem is whether AI should be allowed; AI art is an example. It often takes work from multiple artists without consent and uses them as its own.
Crowdsourcing
Crowdsourcing is an important way computers are made. Simply put, it is when large group of dispersed people produce a singular goods/services; It has many benefits and drawbacks. Some benefits of crowdsourcing include lower cost of labor, faster, increased flexibility, and it promotes diversity. As each job requires less skill, it is easier to find workers. In addition, companies don't need to pay them as much for the same result. (I am against this, but merely explaining it from an economic standpoint) However, there are drawbacks. Due to the large size of the labor force in this system, it is hard to keep things confidential. In addition, the lower skill level needed can also lead to mishaps.
